Congratulations to the four members of our boys volleyball team who made all-conference! Gavin Rus, Quinn Cochran, Roman Russo, and Jack Merren helped the team finish 30-5–1 overall. They were ranked No. 2 in the state at the end of the regular season. Cochran also was a finalist for Mr. Volleyball, the award for the top boys volleyball player in the state. Incredible season, boys volleyball!
After a big 5-4 win over West Ottawa on Saturday morning, the Jenison baseball team rallied and took Hudsonville to extra innings before just falling short in the district championship game later that afternoon. A large crowd of Jenison fans made the trip to Holland and went crazy when the team made incredible plays to tie the game and keep it tied. Huge thanks to the 13 seniors who led this team to another successful season. You will be missed!

Last Friday a group of Jenison High School and JIA students made a splash at the West Michigan Construction Institute Awards Ceremony! Big shoutout to Jacob Alonso-Murillo, Whyatt Courter, Keegan Kroon, Brezlyn Post, Rocco Lauerto, and Betsy Shanahan for earning so many awards and credentials we don’t even have space to list them all here. The West Michigan Construction Institute is similar to the tech center but focuses exclusively on commercial construction and electrical. Students must apply and attend from 6:30 am - 9:30 am every day as part of their class schedule. Way to learn important trades and represent JPS well, students!
Big shoutout to Senior Dylan Clack for being named the 2026 Boys Basketball Positive Athlete of the Year for Michigan by Positive Athlete Great Lakes! Clack, who is deeply involved with Jenison Unified Sports, inspires through inclusion, “building friendships, mentoring Special Olympics athletes, and leading with positivity and respect,” according to Positive Athlete. More than 16,000 student-athletes and coaches were nominated across the country, but fewer than 1% were selected for awards.

This is an all-night party held in a secret location with various activities, food, and final fun high school memories. Volunteering to help plan this terrific event is a wonderful way to be involved in your student’s final high school year. The Senior Getaway is not school-sponsored but funded and run by parent volunteers.The Senior Getaway Committee of 2026 is inviting you to learn more about the planning of this fabulous event on Monday, May 18, at 7:00 PM in the JHS Cafeteria. Last Friday the high school’s APES class and Bauerwood 2nd graders continued their wonderful tradition of releasing salmon into the Grand River! They have been growing and developing in Mrs. White’s room since October. The high school students led groups of 2nd graders to the boat launch area and, using red Solo cups, released salmon into the wild. Strong connections were formed as interactive learning took place. Way to collaborate high school students and second graders!
Recognizing excellence across our district! Our High School Math Department is helping students achieve incredible academic growth, Zach Mendoza continues to invest in people through our strength and performance program, and Amy Schrock is being celebrated for organizing a meaningful Senior Citizen Preview Night at the high school musical. Well done, Wildcats!
