Congratulations to Carter Cooke for being picked as the MLive top junior for boys cross country in the Grand Rapids area! Cooke collected 3,497 votes, which was good for 78 percent of the total votes cast. MLive had great things to say about him in the article introducing all the candidates:
“Another member of Jenison’s talented junior class, Cooke has shown consistent improvement this fall, opening the season with a 17:14.3, then logging a personal-best time of 15:33.9 at last week’s Otsego Bulldog Invitational. That time currently ranks 24th in Division 1, putting him on track to earn an all-state medal later this year.”
Way to go, Carter, and keep up the great work!

Due to the projected weather forecast, we have made the difficult decision to cancel today’s Wildcat Festival.
With thunderstorms in the forecast, anticipated rain impacting facility and ground conditions, and the safety and logistics involved in setting up activities between storms, we simply cannot safely and successfully move forward with the festival as planned.
A huge shoutout and thank you to our Jenison High School Student Council members and staff who have put so much time, energy, and effort into planning this event and working through every possible option to make it happen today. We appreciate you!
We will work with Student Council and our participating vendors to explore another date, if possible, and will share updated information once details are finalized.
At this time, there are no changes or delays to tonight’s football game.

The first rally of the year was AWESOME!
Save the Date… We’re excited to share the annual Wildcat Festival will take place on Thursday, September 3 right before the first home football game! The event, which happens on the baseball fields this year due to construction, runs from 3:30 pm to 7 pm. It will feature food trucks, the Critter Barn, inflatables, games and so much more. Then stay for the football game and watch the team play Forest Hills Northern. Check out some of our favorite photos from the past two years of the festival and see you there!
Congratulations to the four members of our boys volleyball team who made all-conference! Gavin Rus, Quinn Cochran, Roman Russo, and Jack Merren helped the team finish 30-5–1 overall. They were ranked No. 2 in the state at the end of the regular season. Cochran also was a finalist for Mr. Volleyball, the award for the top boys volleyball player in the state. Incredible season, boys volleyball!
After a big 5-4 win over West Ottawa on Saturday morning, the Jenison baseball team rallied and took Hudsonville to extra innings before just falling short in the district championship game later that afternoon. A large crowd of Jenison fans made the trip to Holland and went crazy when the team made incredible plays to tie the game and keep it tied. Huge thanks to the 13 seniors who led this team to another successful season. You will be missed!

The annual Senior Parade took place at all our elementary schools & the junior high this week! The great energy from students & staff was palpable and the #Classof2026 was celebrated as they walked through the halls of their former schools. Last Friday a group of Jenison High School and JIA students made a splash at the West Michigan Construction Institute Awards Ceremony! Big shoutout to Jacob Alonso-Murillo, Whyatt Courter, Keegan Kroon, Brezlyn Post, Rocco Lauerto, and Betsy Shanahan for earning so many awards and credentials we don’t even have space to list them all here. The West Michigan Construction Institute is similar to the tech center but focuses exclusively on commercial construction and electrical. Students must apply and attend from 6:30 am - 9:30 am every day as part of their class schedule. Way to learn important trades and represent JPS well, students!
Big shoutout to Senior Dylan Clack for being named the 2026 Boys Basketball Positive Athlete of the Year for Michigan by Positive Athlete Great Lakes! Clack, who is deeply involved with Jenison Unified Sports, inspires through inclusion, “building friendships, mentoring Special Olympics athletes, and leading with positivity and respect,” according to Positive Athlete. More than 16,000 student-athletes and coaches were nominated across the country, but fewer than 1% were selected for awards.

It's time to start thinking about the night of the Class of 2027 graduation ceremony and the Senior Getaway!The Senior Getaway is a Jenison tradition that provides a fantastic, fun-filled, safe evening for your graduate. This is an all-night party held in a secret location with various activities, food, and final fun high school memories. Volunteering to help plan this terrific event is a wonderful way to be involved in your student’s final high school year. The Senior Getaway is not school-sponsored but funded and run by parent volunteers.The Senior Getaway Committee of 2026 is inviting you to learn more about the planning of this fabulous event on Monday, May 18, at 7:00 PM in the JHS Cafeteria. Learn about the different committees and sign up for the one(s) that capture your attention. This event cannot happen without parental participation. Please join the meeting to hear more about it.
